Varicocele can be described as a medical issue which is caused by the swelling of veins of the scrotum, particularly in the pampiniform, or plexus which is a collection of veins that drain testosterone from testicles. It is a common condition with 15% of males and is more often seen with males who are infertile. Varicoceles tend to be unnoticeable however in certain instances they can trigger discomfort and pain or infertility. If the veins of the scrotum expand they may increase the temperature of the testicles. This may affect the production and function of sperm and lead men to be infertile. Most often the diagnosis of varicoceles is made by ultrasound, physical examination or any other imaging technique.
